Anxiety attacks, panic attacks and panic disorder treatment now available to all. You don't need electric shocks, lifetime medication and long term care as some people wrongly believe! In the majority of cases you can be treated quite easily with the help of a good therapist and or a good self help guide.
One treatment that is very popular is known as cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT for short. Cognitive behavioural therapy is widely seen as being amongst the most effective types of treatment available for those who are blighted by anxiety and panic attacks or panic disorder. It will help sufferers to understand their fears and how to take control back themselves.
CBT helps sufferer to understand their own thought patterns fully, to home in on their specific types of thoughts and their general daily routines and patterns for life. Once this is established and understood then the therapist is able to identify probable causes and triggers that may initiate an attack.
It is all too easy to say don't worry, it can't harm you or you are safe. That is no help when you are right in the thick of it, is it? That said, once you are helped to realise that it is not going to harm you, you are then better placed to work through it. Another panic disorder treatment is known as exposure therapy. This is a means of letting you feel the sensations physically that you associate with your condition, but it is all done in a controlled atmosphere and one that allows to you experiment with different ways to work through an attack.
With the therapists help and your approval you will go through a range of triggers to induce the symptoms of an attack. The difference this time is someone qualified is at your side to explain and guide you. The more this is repeated and you are given a solution, the easier and less frightening an attack is. This is all geared towards you recognising the fear and taking control.
At the end of the day you have let your thoughts control you and convince you something terrible is going to happen, which it isn't. You haven't quite believed that yet, that's all.
Next we come to a treatment than can conjure up fear in itself and that is medication.
Medication is often suggested as a quick fix if you like, and in some circumstances there may well be a placebo effect. You see, it's all to do with the mind and our belief patterns! Medication alone is not the be all and end all panic disorder treatment. It cannot cure or treat the symptoms associated with panic disorder, but it can bring some relief from the symptoms.
If you have chronic symptoms medication will be used in conjunction with other treatments like those already discussed.
You do not need to work out a solution on your own. In fact the very thought of it may cause anxiety and panic to raise its ugly head.
You can never discount a good self-help guide to have by your side when you are working through your panic disorder treatment. Ask for help to identify triggers. You may find that making a few simple lifestyle changes will work a treat in a lot of cases.
